When purchasing a home, applying for a loan is stressful for most people, but it doesn't have to be. I have excellent relationships with a lot of mortgage lenders in the Edmond area, and they've helped me learn some things that will make the loan application process uncomplicated. 1 – Make a list of questions about your loan program If you do not perfectly understand the pros and cons of all the different loan programs, make sure you have a list of questions with you. It's a challenge to understand the differences between fixed and adjustable rate mortgages. I or one of my lender contacts will be able to assist you in understanding the advantages and disadvantages of each program. 2 – Decide when you want to lock When you lock in the interest rate, a mortgage lender is guaranteed to keep to the interest rates for the loan – generally at the time the loan application is received. By floating the rate, you can lock the rate at any time between the loan application day and issuance of closing documents. Buyers who decide to float conclude that the interest rates will dip in the near future. Every point is 1 percent of the mortgage loan.
